I’m not really the traditional type when it comes to furniture and design, I’m more of a mid century modern type of girl. However, even though this curio is traditional I still lurrrrve it because it feeds into one of my habits….collecting. I’m a collector thanks to my mother, she has several collections, all very extensive. She collects antique pottery called majolica, thimbles, spoons, art and a few other things. I began collecting sea shells, and when my collection was big enough she bought me a mini curio cabinet to display my shells in. This cabinet is perfect for displaying those collections and would look great in any entryway (my mom has two in the entryway to her house) or office.

It’s now November and you know you can feel that crisp chill in the air that makes you want to pull out all of your winter blankets and pillows and cuddle up on a couch or in your bedroom. For me, it’s extra hard to get out of bed now that it’s colder outside, so I’ll set my alarm about 10-20 minutes earlier during the winter than in the summer, just so I can wake up and cuddle in my bed for a few extra minutes before starting my day.

Temperatures have been dropping here in Texas, and when it’s finally getting cold in the south, you know it’s definitely not warm in the north anymore. To me and my roommate at least this is great news, because it means we can finally start using our fireplace again. This fireplace that I’m featuring today is in the Compartment Life store for about $180 buckaroos. I love it because I’m very into the bronzy-gold accent trend right now, (like when I added gold detail to this), and it’s super easy to mount and use. The gel is pretty simple, just remove the outer label, pop open the top and light the gel. It will burn for up to 3 hours and it’s an amazing room and ambiance enhancer.
