About the Author

Who am I? I’m Shannon, a treehugging-geek-of-a-neat-freak-diva-attention-hog-who’s-the-world-biggest-cheapskate!

I’m  your go to person for hot happenings in the furniture industry. I get to cover everything from new homes, to remodels, going green and even the occasional wine blog.

I have a small 1044 square feet flat in Dallas, Texas, and it’s my pride and joy, I carefully chose paint swatches (many times over), stole furniture off of lawn refuse, and spent a penny or two revamping some repurposed furniture. When I moved all I could think about was redecorating, but as most of you know you can only do so much. I had so many ideas, themes and motifs but since I have all of 3 rooms to decorate you have to make some cuts.

Recently employed for the company Southern Enterprises, Inc. I began the first position for social media in the company, with high hopes of learning as much about furniture and design as I possibly can. Southern Enterprises is a cutting edge furniture wholesale company who continues to strive to be a leading competitor in the furniture industry by keeping up to date and ahead of the curve on things such as this new phenomenon–social media. {Enter Shannon} I write this for my daily 9-5 and really love how this position affords me the opportunities to learn not only about furniture and fashion, but sales, photography, and even some computer geek stuff.

I’ll be covering many things on this blog such as:

  • Knowledge – Furniture history and basic industry knowledge, even the occasional headline, so if you are a history buff this is the place for you to “geek out”.
  • Design – This industry is ever-changing and with most trends having the life span of a mayfly, I often like to discuss what styles are in at this very moment.
  • Entertaining – I’ll feature good advice for how throw a dinner party, or sneaky ways  to decline an invitation to “that-dinner-my-Grandma-throws-every-year-and-all-her-friends-try-to-kiss-me-on-the-lips” party
  • Organization – let’s face it we could all use a little more order in our lives; and it is especially helpful when you are trying to entertain.
  • Hot deals – take it from me, the biggest cheapskate I know, a person who gets her hardwood furniture from the Sunday trash pickup, there are great ways to find trendy things without pay the trendy price. Stretch your dollar here.
  • Recycling – not only am I cheap, I’m a bit of hippie, I think just because something is worn out or out of style doesn’t mean you can’t reuse it, heck I’ll cover chair with an old dress of mine just to give a room a fresh new look. It’s true I’m a granola.

I also enjoy writing, which is why I thought if I’m going to get a “big girl” job I might as well get one where I get to write about things I love doing. The blog that follows is all about what I would do if I had an unlimited source of homes to decorate.

XOXO

Shannon
