Halloween Decorating
“This is Halloween, this is Halloween.” I’m getting so pumped for Halloween and the fall festivities! I’ve almost filled my DVR with scary movies, I won’t watch them but my roommate Ryli will. I’m more of a Tim Burton/ABC Family Halloween Movie fan, like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, and Hocus Pocus, so there are plenty of those on there as well.
One thing that I’m not scared to do for Halloween is decorate! One of the best places to decorate for the holidays is the front entryway or hallway table. Much like the summer holidays where I decorated my entryway table for The 4th of July, I went theme-happy again and decked out the entry table again for Halloween. On Sunday, Ryli and I went shopping for Halloween stuff for the house. We made several stops while on our hunt to places like JoAnne’s Fabric, Dollar Tree, and Walmart.
For this table display I used a “bloody table-cloths” and draped it over the whole table. It gives the tableau that grimy, scary effect. I took some pillar candles and used a trick I saw on Martha Stewert to make the candles look like they’re bleeding. Creepy right?
I also took some cobweb and put it on the mirror trailing down onto my “heart-in-a-terrarium”, which is one of my favorite parts. I saw some free printables on the blog Funky Time so I printed those off and used the one that said “Fang Floss” and filled a tiny jar with string that I dyed with red Gatorade. Then, I just hot glued the label to jar.

I topped it all off with a great plastic skull from Walmart. It’s the funniest thing though, Clide (our pug) hates it, he stands there and just barks at the skull as if the skull has personally been taunting him when I’m not around. Poor Clide, he’s almost as big of a scaredy-cat as myself. I however, am not scared of the skull, I actually bought several and plan to stick them up in the top corners of the house.

Not too bad I would say. Gotta love Dollar Tree for cheap holiday decor! How are you guys decorating your homes for Halloween? Are you going for the haunted house slightly gory look, or are you more light-hearted with fun plastic bats and brightly decorated pumpkins? Maybe you’re going for more of a Halloween chic look with white painted pumpkins and lots of sparkles? Any ideas what you’re going to dress up as?
