Green is another color I have attempted to work with in my short experience of living on my own. It’s really a learning curve when it comes to color. You’ve probably heard me talk about how my last apartment had too much color, and my first college apartment wasn’t any exception either. I know I love color, I want to try it all, and I can be a little hasty. Add those all together and it means I tend to get a color I’m not sure I love. Just for fun, let’s go through all the paint colors I’ve ever had going all the way back to middle school:

  • Blue sponge paint, (1992 – 1999) our second house we lived in when I was little, oh did I mention I had a sea life border going around my walls as well? I think I was pretending to be a fish during my childhood.
  • Purple walls, gold gloss over them with a gold ceiling, (2000 – 2005) this was in my bedroom when I was living at my parent house, felt like living in a present box.
  • Teal/Turquoise accent wall, (2007 – 2009) on campus college apartment, green comforter and green accents to top it all off.
  • Dark blue, (2009 – 2010) moved back to my parents house and repainted.
  • Same dark blue in my bedroom, brown dining nook, sky blue living room, lime green kitchen, turquoise entryway, gray second bedroom, orange second bathroom, (2010 – 2012) yes all this was in my first apartment after graduating college.
  • Gray and coral bedroom, (2012 – present) I seem to love it still. Here’s to hoping it sticks!

Yeah, I feel like I’ve used a lot of color in my time. However, I digress, the mint green in this photo is very well done, from the extra green accents to the neutral colors of the upholstery to balance it out. I’m not sure I could have pulled off a green that makes this much of a statement without hurting your eyes.

How about you? What colors have you been using…..or avoiding?
