I remember creating a similar post like this a year or so ago and feeling no real connection to the post. I mean, I like what I picked out on the inspiration board for it, but this year it is very different. It’s different because this year my baby sister is off to college. That’s right, I’m now officially well past my college years. While I have no fear of getting older, it’s just a strange feeling knowing that someone you’ve always sought to “shelter” and “protect” is now about to move out and take on some of the best years of their life. So dear sister, this little series of dorm posts are just for you.

From top left: 1. Arch Top Space Saver $199.99, 2. Faux Leather Storage Ottoman in Zebra Print $89, 3. Welcome Print $49, 4. Birdseye Overdoor Rack $24.99, 5. Measuring Cups and Spoons $6.99, 6. Kalorik Mini Cooler $249.99, 7. Striped Duvet Gray $19.99-$39.99, 8. Impossible Project First Edition Spectra Polaroid Camera $140

Space saving is tough. Then add a roommate, two twin beds, two desks, and maybe four square feet of floor space and boom, space-saving just got almost impossible. There are several ways to add or even create storage in a dorm. A major must is “build up.” By this I mean start looking for things that can attach to a wall and fit above other things, like the bathroom space saver I show above. Get over the door racks for every door in your dorm, to hang coats, backpacks, and scarves. Some dorms only have one door, I was fortunate enough to have two, one to get in my room, and one for my closet. You better believe I put an over the door hanger on both sides of the closet door. It wasn’t always easy to shut, but it really help keep my things off the floor.
