Faux fur, faux marble, faux leather. Most of the mid level furniture/home accessories that you find in retail stores and online shops have elements or even “ingredients” if you will that are faux something.

Faux: (adj) a simulation of something else that resembles the original concept.

Would you believe me if I said that I often look for things with the word faux in them? This is mainly for one or two reasons. I’m first and foremost a self-proclaimed animal lover, and an enviornmentalist-as-best-I-can-be. What does that have to do with “faux shopping? Haha see what I did there? I’ll be here all week folks. Shopping for things categorized as faux is healthier for the environment. Faux wood saves trees. Faux fur and faux leather helps prevent inhumane forms of animal cruelty.

Secondly I’m a cheapskate-penny-pincher and often when you shop faux, you shop with a reasonable budget! Faux marble for example you will find comes at a much more pleasing price tag than actual marble.

How is a fake marble made? Well there are many level of “fauxness”. Your faux marble could be anything from a marble print on paper to a smooth rock covered in a glaze. Often faux marble comes in the form of laminate and is easily installed. This couch-table above is a great example of faux marble.
