Compartment Visit: Beth and Andy’s Vintage Rehabbed Home
Residents: Soon to be newly weds Beth and Andy and their pooch Buckus
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Years Lived In: 3 Years
Stuffed to the brim with memorabilia and collected treasures, Beth and Andy live in the thriving city of Philadelphia. Residents of the grand neighborhood of Fishtown; their apartment is one of three in an old town house that gives their home not only charm and character but a little bit of history as well. Beth and Andy’s two bedroom home also doubles as a studio for their company Beth Blinebury Design, and as they spend a fair amount of time working in their studio they decided to make a little switcher-roo:
“Last year we swapped our bedroom and office. As designers (my fiance and I both work for Beth Blinebury Design), we spend all of our time in the office working, playing, and goofing around. We wanted to make the best room in the whole apartment our work space because it’s so important to us both.” -Beth
Me: What is your favorite room?
Beth: The living room is my favorite room in the house because I think it represents our style the best. The room is still practical. Seeing our movie collection, you know we spend a lot of time in there on the couch! The room mixes a hand-me-down leather couch with two (very different) vintage chairs. It’s a great layout for when we have friends over.
Me: If you could change or add anything to your home what would it be?
Beth: Add more storage space! We have ONE closet in our entire apartment and I’ve taken it over for my shoes and dresses. We don’t have a place to put guest’s coats or hide our mop – things like that!
Me: What is your favorite element of your home?
Beth: I think the most interesting elements in our apartment are the works we have hung throughout every room. In our kitchen, we’ve hung vintage 1950s advertisements and fun utensil drawings from IKEA. In the living room, we have hung posters and artwork from many of our friends. In the office, we have a giant “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” poster, album covers, home-made posters, postcards, etc. Those elements ooze our personality – we love movies, music, art and design!
Note: A) I am way impressed with her record collection. B) I must mention just how in love I am with her closet! That shoe organization system is blowing my mind! Lucky for me us Beth has been kind enough to provide us with her how-to. Finally, C) I am jealous her neighborhood is called Fishtown.
Where they got their stuff:
The Two Yellow Chairs: Purchased from the Philadelphia Trading Post
Silver Coffee Table: Won from Southern Enterprises, but you can purchase it at Buxnie.com (we have a 15% off coupon!)
