Okay well, it wasn’t completely free but it was a great value. Two weeks ago I acquired a chair off of craigslist (read about that here). This summer really is the summer of old music jams for me. I have them playing in the background on my trusty record player while I carry out my various tasks of upholstering and crafting. Recently I was jamming to this.
Take a time out for an office dance break, just let it play as you scroll through the end of this post.
Alright back to business. It’s simple business really, all the stapling and stretching of fabric, and it’s really one of the easiest makeovers you can do. I unscrewed the seat from the chair, and then removed the old nasty fabric. And believe me it was capital Di-sgusting!
And here’s the after. All I had to do was stretch the fabric correctly, use my trusty staple gun and voila! Instant redo. I wanted to keep the chair kind of dated and retro looking which is why I chose such an outlandish fabric. I mean gold/yellow crushed velvet? Hello 70s! And it was on clearance at the fabric store. Clearance + 30% off = about $6 altogether for 4 yards of fabric. I have some left over, maybe I can add an embellishment to a couch pillow or something later on.
So you see that there are simple ways to update your space (or send it back in time) without breaking your bank. What’s the fastest/latest redo you’ve done in your home? Is there anyone else as excited about clearance fabric as me?
