Swanky Succulents
I have officially jumped on the bandwagon. I am in love with this seasons “it” plant. When I first kept hearing the word succulent immediately I would think of a cactus, and I was all like “I live in Texas, whoop-tee-frickin-do! It’s not like I’ve never seen a cactus before.” I was wrong. The arrangements that keep presenting themselves at stores and online just continue to stun me with understated beauty.
I first remember stumbling onto them on Life on The Balcony with a close up of her well-arranged succulent pot:
And then I saw them again this weekend in my own mothers garden, which happened to be one of our family aloe plants. You can tell that we love homeopathic remedies at her house, some of the leaves of this plant have obviously been pulled off to put on a scraped knee.
She also has another plant that has the feel of a succulent, and does extremely well in the heat, but I’m not sure if it actually falls into the family of succulents and cacti. Which is this pretty green guy that does extremely well no matter where she plants (it’s all over the garden).
I’ll give you a close up so that maybe someone can help me identify it.
So she made me some cuttings of this one (and a few others, thanks mom!) and I stuck them into my bird-bath-turned succulent-planter. I must say they are taking quite well. All I did was literally snap of some stems and stuck them in the ground and they grew their own roots. Pretty crazy, but apparently that’s how some plants work.
I don’t want to continue to ramble on (even though I’m sure could) but let’s just end this post by saying I didn’t stop here……..
Don’t worry I just haven’t had time to edit my weekend finds! Have you caught onto the trend? Or maybe some other flower/plant has been making it’s presence known in your life?
